Project Overview

Website design and development for Wildlife Refuge, a Facebook game for the animal lover in us all.

How Did I Do It?

The Goal
I was approached to design this website as a portal to the Facebook game. The plan was to design a simple and beautiful looking site that would excite the end user and entice them to play the game

The Execution
The feel of the game is very colorful, cartoon-ish, and playful and I wanted those aspects to come through in my design. I was put in contact with the UI artist for the game team and requested PSD's and assets from the game that I could leverage into a website design. I wanted to step outside the box a little bit and use a creative tiling background for the content area and I feel the tiling grassy texture used in design nailed what I was going for. Not to mention it matches the aesthetic and mood of the game perfectly. Additionally, I wanted to include a lot of the iconic characters and animials in the game in order to give it some kind of identity.

When it came time to develop, I used HTML and CSS with some enhancements from jQuery and delivered a pixel-perfect translation from the PSD to code. A brand-consistent design, attention to detail, and the application of the latest web trends and technologies ultimately yeilded a gorgeous website all around.
